Louisville Learning! A National Conference for Fresh Ideas and Skills!

I need to attend my national professional organization's annual conference. At this conference, I will learn new standards, thinking, and activities to better serve my student. I will come away with improved skills and ideas!

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Wiltse's classroom raised $512

My Students

My students are kindergarten to 8th grade students in a city neighborhood public school. My students walk to school and have a strong sense of community. I see students once a week for nine years (K - 8) -- which creates a wonderful relationship and culture of reading and learning! We discuss our favorite authors and books, and I have a high circulation as students can check out four books a week from the school library. I share lots of read-alouds with younger grades, and do more research in 5th-8th grades.

My Project

I am the solo librarian at my school, so I don't have regular contact with other librarians unless I seek out opportunities. Professional development has been continually cut in my public urban district, and it is increasingly hard to grow and learn without traveling to conferences. This national conference is from my professional organization, the American Association of School Librarians. This organization writes my national teacher-librarian standards and at this conference, I can learn and grow with leaders from around the country. I have gas money and accommodations taken care of, but I do still need help with the conference fee.
