My Students

How great was it on the first day of school, when you had a new backpack filled with new supplies to use throughout the school year? Many of my students are not able to start their year off this way.

There are 18 energetic three and four year old children in my class.

Our school includes students from Pre-k to eighth grade. It is in a high poverty area and about 85% of the students in the school receive free lunch. Our school is in a low-income neighborhood where the budget cuts have made purchasing the things we need difficult.

My Project

I think it would be great to provide my students with the supplies they need for the school year. The glue, markers and pencils would be available for my students to complete their school work and home work. Their homework supplies will be stored in their binder pockets inside their home/school binder. And the bright copy paper will be perfect for copying their homework and parent notes.

These supplies might be very basic but they are very important to a elementary school student.

There isn't much work a pre-k student can do without glue, markers and pencils. And the students will also learn about responsibility as they take care of their supplies.
