"Why don't we ever get to use the library?" A reasonable question I'd been asked by many students throughout our school. From a kindergartner who has only seen the room from behind closed doors, to 5th graders who remember when the room was in use.
Our students are eager to take advantage of every educational resource that we can give them.
It's frustrating to deny a resource to students who want to engage.
"Can we help you in the library?" a group of third graders ask as I heave a collection of textbooks 15 years out of date from the shelves.
"Of course you can!" Our students want to take an ownership of their space- and have a place to read.
My Project
Our library has been out of commission for nearly 5 years. That's 5 years without a book checked out, a story time in the library, or a research project done with the help of a librarian. A library is key to a child's access to books and their love of reading.
We need YOUR help to purchase the technology and labeling materials needed to get the library up and running!
Our teachers have put in many hours cleaning and re-organizing the space which has been in disuse for so many years. We have been blessed with a beautiful space and a plethora of donated materials to use with our students. However, we need support getting a new book scanner and materials to label all of our donated material.
We are so close to our goal of opening our library to the K-8 students at our school and giving them back this key literacy resource. Thank you for your support!
