My students need Astronomy materials such as the Discover Astronomy CD, Space Measurement Lab, Weather gone Wild, and Space Bingo to further understand how Astronomy works.

My Students
Do you remember what it was like to really understand something? By choosing labs, and hands-on supplies, Astronomy can be accessible to all. We are an inner city school that has just added 8th grade. There are no Science supplies, teachers editions, or materials available to bring science alive.
My students are bright and energetic.
They love to do labs and experiments. Science is becoming a favorite subject, but we need the supplies to keep it up. We are in a high poverty District in California with budget cuts, which means no Science equipment. Parents support our Science programs in Middle School, but cannot afford nutritional lunches, much less supplies for our programs. Often students come into Middle School with little Science background, labs and hands-on equipment will inspire more interest in the Sciences, and hopefully some students will choose to become Scientists because of this early exposure.
My Project
The Discover program will inspire students to look up. The sky is a vast, spectacular resource for us to study and become familiar with. Exploring Mars, Measuring lab, the Periodic table will bring pages and pictures of the text to life. The Solar Beads will help students determine the amount of sunlight in different areas. The Space Bingo Game will help reinforce the knowledge that they have been exposed to.
STEM education is very important to our nation.
We need to be competitive with other countries. Stimulating an early interest in Science may encourage students to continue on in the field. The Wild Weather DVD, Bingo game, and labs will create hands-on experiences that my students will enjoy and remember. Please consider donating to our project.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
