This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My middle schoolers are outspoken, passionate and creative readers who are in need of classroom library books that reflect their diversity. Although I have a wide selection of genres in my classroom library, I realize I do not have books that feature LGBTQ+ teens. The books I am requesting for this project will help bring more diversity to our classroom library.
Getting lost in a good book is key to building lifelong readers and at the heart of this project.
My goal is help students become more empathetic, aware citizens of the world through independent reading. Books can act as mirrors or windows to the world; by adding more choice to our library, I help open more pathways for my readers.
