Middle School students are often making the best out of very tough situations. Materials and activities provided at school make a world of difference for them and their education. They are hard working, and are extremely eager to continue to learn and improve. Most of them dream of going on to good high schools and colleges, and have dreams of becoming every type of profession from a professional athlete to a real-estate developer or a Navy chef.
Being able to bring in more supplies for the students will greatly increase what we are able to do in class.
My projects here on Donor's Choose are going to go towards helping these students achieve, get on grade level, and have more opportunities than they would have before.
My Project
My 8th Grade students are in the middle of a unit on Suspense at the moment and Lord of the Flies is the key novel of the unit.
However, we do not currently have enough copies for each student to have their own.
This project will allow me to be able to make sure each student has an individual copy, so that we are not scrambling to find a way to have everyone read the text, or so that we can avoid skipping the book all together.
Students are really loving the unit so far and I know that this book, while it will be a challenge for them, will be a story that they will enjoy and connect with.
