My students need new markers, wipe boards, and privacy. Our markers have run out of ink. We need new markers to be able to work out our math problems on our white boards.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I service 20 diverse learners in reading and math daily. My students are eager to learn with the right supplies. They enjoy learning in style. They like to use manipulatives and color markers instead of traditional paper and pencil.
I have been extremely fortunate to have been given the opportunity to teach special education at an extremely poor Title One school.
Even though it has become extremely difficult and sometimes frustrating to educate without needed supplies, our students still come to school eager to learn. Our school rarely has extra funding for enriching material and if they do, the funds are used for older students. Many of my students' families will never have additional money to purchase educational materials. Therefore, I hope to be able to provide a fun and interesting way of learning so my students can succeed in life.
My Project
My students with thin markers will be able to master their math facts with ease. My students have many different disabilities including autism, behavior disorders, and learning disabilities. The one thing they all have in common is the eagerness to learn and compete. On a daily basis we have math competitions on our facts. The students need thin markers to help them answer the facts in the limited space available on the sheet. The kids enjoy using manipulatives and colored markers. We use the white boards to answer question in both reading and math.
My students will benefit by participating in class in a unique way.
By using the markers and writing their answers on a white board, they will be able to answer in bright colors and erase with ease. The study boards will help my students focus and not be distracted by their classmates when working hard on their test.
