Looking Into Our Individuality

My students need individual mirrors for creating self-portraits! Self-portraits are an essential part of art education, capturing the uniqueness of each and every student, and allowing them to explore their own identities.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Allman's classroom raised $373

My Students

As a first year elementary art teacher, I seek to inspire and engage my 800+ students! Through the power of visual arts, students learn to be open-minded, empathetic, and critical thinkers. They follow their heart and learn to take risks. I am able to develop relationships with my students, treat them with respect, and show them that I truly care about their well-being. Often these doors are left closed in the classroom, but in the art room we are able to change that.

Art education allows for deeper connections, giving students the ability to trust that their ideas, thoughts, and questions are all valid.

I aim to give my students the tools to open up their minds to the world around them, and grow into optimistic and creative individuals!

My Project

The self-portrait has been an integral part of art throughout history. It celebrates uniqueness and the story of the individual. Every student has their own story. In art, students have the ability to reflect upon their own story and render their reflections in a creative way.

At our school, we aim to celebrate individuality.

Self-portrait studies in art class can promote self-confidence, acceptance, and self-reflection within each and every student. By funding these mirrors, we will be able to save paper resources (printing pictures) and will be able to practice observational portrait drawing.

My students will be able to learn about artists from many cultures who prioritize the portrait within their work. They will be able to learn the power behind the portrait and see themselves in that light as they create their own.
