This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Learn from your thoughts, they become your words. Learn from your words, they become your actions. Learn from your actions, they become your habits. Learn from your habits, they become your character. Learn from your character, It becomes your destiny." -Anonymous
The simplest thought about my students brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye.
My students are strong, hardworking, and kind souls that have overcome hard obstacles of diversity that slow their path to success. Almost all the students in my classroom are English Language Learners and live in poverty. The school that I work at tries its best to provide all students with the materials they need to be successful. Since funding is limited, there are many resources that could provide effective learning, but no means to obtain them. Having more resources in the classroom will gift the students with a greater chance of achievement.
My Project
With these resources I will be able to create an effective, engaging learning environment that allows students the full exposure of science in the classroom. Instead of viewing their science projects on given times and dates, students will have plenty of opportunities to see them at their desks. Terrariums will be used by partners to keep track of any changes and experience milestones as they occur. With the class microscope, students will be able to open their minds to an unseen world just within their reach. Giving my students these types of motivating instruction is just what they need to be lifelong learners.
Not only will this project give my students opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable, but it also provides them with experiences that open their eyes up to the wonderful world around them.
These experiences may be what every child needs to be lifelong learners on a path of success.
