This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Inquisitive minds, warm hearts, helpful hands, and sponges for brains-these are just some of the ways you could describe the students that walk through our classroom doors each day.

Our students, with limited English skills, live in a high-poverty, big-city community where the goal is to help them blossom into productive learners and speakers.

Their willingness to work hard and achieve is evident in all that they do. They may come from homes where paying the rent and buying food is the priority. Therefore, it is so important for us to support them in as many ways as we can to give them every chance to succeed.

My Project

By adding a document camera to our classroom tools, we will be able to show a variety of new and old things to the students. If an interesting article appears about a discovery of colonial artifacts, the students will be able to share reading about it on the screen. This will lead to a class discussion which would not happen if the article was passed around.

The students will get a bird's-eye view of artifacts, math papers, writing samples, science materials, as well as many other valuable items.

Students can bring their own work to life on the screen with a document camera. They can have the entire class read it and work together to edit and revise thereby improving this skill with the whole class instead of one student at the time with a teacher. It is a great asset to the students' learning.
