This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title 1 school where majority of the students receive ESL services as well as free or reduced lunch. Their access to resources and technology is limited within their homes. They come to school each day ready to learn and explore! They are very curious and eager to explore.
Many of my students face language barriers and are being exposed to English for the first time in my classroom.
It is important that all students, especially ESL students, practice verbally sharing their learning. I want to provide my students as many chances as I can to build their language skills through discuss, sharing, and show and tell.
My Project
I am requesting an ELMO document camera and accessories to use in my classroom with my students across all subjects. I want to use the ELMO in my classroom for many different show and tell opportunities. The ELMO provides a great opportunity for students to share work samples, writing, drawings, and model skills. I will use the ELMO for shared read alouds, modeling math games, and demonstrating work within our interactive notebooks.
My students are eager to share their work with their peers.
It is so important for my students to practice talking about their work and share their thinking. An ELMO camera would give my classroom the chance to have an instant method for showing and sharing across all subjects.
