This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love using different types of technology, but there is not enough to go around at the school. They would enjoy using the Nook Color E-Readers in the listening area during the day.

I am at a high poverty school where the students come from diverse backgrounds.

Many speak English as a second language and learning English can be very difficult for these kids! Many of my students' parents do not speak very much English and some of them speak no English at all. Being able to read or listen to a book will give my students the confidence they need and help them learn English.

My Project

I am requesting 2 Nook Color E-Readers for my classroom. There are a variety of children's books available on the Nook that the students could listen to at the listening area during the day. These children's books offer the option to read the story or listen to the story. The Nooks would give the students the chance to hear and see the words while reading the books on the E-Reader. There are also apps on the Nook that my students can use during Literacy or Math time. The Nook E-Readers will also expose them to the latest technology.

The Nook E-Readers will help to engage my students in reading and literacy activities.

Many of my students don't have access to technology at home, and they would be very excited to use the Nook E-Readers in the classroom. By using the Nooks in the classroom I hope to foster a life long love of reading in my students.
