These students come in all ages and ability levels. Wrestling teaches them more in a season than some people learn in 4 years of high school about not giving up, helping others, being held accountable, and many more.
These students play one sport and giving them an opportunity to play a sport they love to get a chance to compete is all we are asking.
We want these students to be successful on and off the mat. These are some of the best students in Shelby County.
We went to matches and tournaments with a mismatch of clothes. A lot of my students did not have enough workout gear to wear to practice and matches and wore jeans to matches. This will allow them to look and feel the part of a team.
This also helps us recruit kids to come to wrestle when there is something cool about it.
In wrestling, we need different ways to recruit kids when it is all about football and basketball. We do not have the flash that a lot of other teams have due to funding and this will help us create the excitement for the greatest sport of all time!
