As kindergartners, my students are full of energy, eagerness to learn, and imagination. They live in a high-poverty area, but they are just as creative as anyone else. They just need a few supplies to help their ideas come to fruition.
My Project
Our class is filled with little authors and illustrators. Before they had learned the alphabet, these children were telling stories. One time, they had to tell a story while painting a picture. Their illustrations were their stories, just like in Harold and The Purple Crayon.
We need ink, watercolors and paper for each student to create a book, personally written and illustrated.
After the pages are completed, we will bind them to create books that the students can take home to read to their families. They will have a permanent reminder that they are talented.
