it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Writing your first "story" in kindergarten is a big deal. Imagine if it could be a magazine article or a book completely about you. Wow, that would be the best.
My students are a group of 25 Kindergartners who want to do it all.
They love to write even if it doesn't exactly look the way we grown-ups think writing should look. I encourage them every step of the way. They don't always get that encouragement at home. It is up to us at school to foster that love of reading and writing at all times. No matter what it looks like.
My Project
With the Class Publishing Center my children will have more experiences with different types of paper. Now we use plain paper with lines, but a magazine article to write describing A Day At The Park, how exciting. That's just one writing idea, and the possibilities are endless. If they were writing in their own hard cover book about themselves, I know my class will be sounding out words and stretching their words all by themselves. They will all want to share their work with anyone who walks in our room.
With your help we can set these children up on a lifetime of a love of writing.
We might even have a great writer right in front of us. We will never know unless these children are given the opportunity to express themselves more creatively. I can see that this is accomplished with your help. Thank you for your help in helping us achieve.
