Help me give my students early reader books to support their newly found love of reading.

My Project
Watching first time readers venture through the library looking for books they can read is an exciting part of my job as an elementary school librarian. Beginning readers are usually kindergartners and first graders who are excited about checking out books they can read without help. "Do you have any books on ducks? Can you help me find a book about rain? Look, Mrs. Dodson, I found a Pete the Cat book!" These are the conversations I hear from beginning readers who have discovered the joy of reading a book on their own and on their level.
My beginning readers are asking for 0.5 to 0.9 Accelerated Reader books that I don't currently have in the library due to inadequate funding.
It is important to have books on the shelf that my beginning readers can read and enjoy. I am requesting a variety of books both fiction and nonfiction that my beginning readers will be able to check out and read on their own.
