Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning, our students walk into our ELA class buzzing and energetic, ready to learn. They come with questions, deep insights, and bright ideas. Many of our students read below grade level, which undoubtedly affects their desire and motivation to read. Being in middle school isn't easy though!

Living in what was once considered "the poorest congressional district in the country", otherwise known as the South Bronx, our students face more challenges than some people we may know.

Our school serves a population where 95%+ of the students receive free lunch and come from low-income neighborhoods. Despite the challenges they may face outside of our walls, they give school their all and try their hardest every day.

My Project

Having access to deodorants, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and sanitary pads will benefit many of my students!

As many of us know, middle school is a TOUGH time.

Your body is going through a million and one changes, your emotions are at a all time high, and often, you feel alone in the world. Having access to some personal hygiene items at school will help some of our students who may not access to items or who are in need of some extra. Puberty is a hard time!

Smelling good and feeling good will help our middle schoolers thrive amongst their peers!
