Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Kindergarteners are some of the most creative artists I know. They love exploring the bits and pieces in our "Beautiful Stuff" corner for ideas. They mix primary paint colors to make unique colors. They cut and paste shapes to create their own greeting cards. My students are super productive painters and crafters, so much so that have used up most of the "nice"paper this year.

High quality tools support students in creating high quality work.

I would like to boost our " Beautiful stuff" arts and crafts area to a higher level. I want my Kindergarteners to have sturdy, thick card stock ( back in the day, we called it oat tag!) paper that remains steady while they cut out little shapes. It helps them to practice cutting skills with less frustration. Proper watercolor paper will help them see how beautifully different colors blend as they paint their pictures, fostering success, and encouraging them to persist in their work.

I am asking for a variety of tapes- gaffer's tape ( the kind electricians use) is great for sticking things such as cardboard together- perfect for building a basket, or a fort. Bright colors also makes gaffer's tape its own decorative element on crafts.

Lastly, I want to store and display their beautiful work with pride. My school was built in 1863! Thanks to being constructed before electricity, our classrooms have enormous windows and gorgeous hardwood floors. But bulletin boards can't be easily affixed to walls, so most displays are stuck directly to the plaster. It's hard to find adhesives that sticks without pulling off paint. Painters tape does the trick- it removes easily from our classroom walls. Adhesive dots work for our permanent display wall. These items would make such a difference for my budding artists. Thank you!
