My students need a place to show off their incredible artistic talent! Our Cafe has bare walls that are screaming to be covered with cork board to display student work.
FULLY FUNDED! Dr. Henry's classroom raised $200

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a very poor neighborhood where 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch each day. We are now a Turnaround Arts School, trying to incorporate the arts into all areas of learning! Many of my students do not have supplies at home, so school is the only place to be creative.
My students are wonderful, creative individuals who are fighting to survive in a seriously depressed neighborhood.
They are resilient and brilliant! They come to school each day excited to learn. They love art and music and express themselves through various creative outlets.
Their work is beautiful and full of childhood excitement. Displaying their work will only help increase their self-efficacy and confidence.
My Project
The cork board roll will be installed on the wall of our cafeteria to create an art gallery. Student work will be displayed for everyone to appreciate. The cafeteria currently has a plain, stark white cinder block wall that does not hold up any art work. I have attempted to display work using sticky tack, tape and various other sticky products, with no luck! Nothing sticks to this wall! Installing the cork board roll with screws and liquid nails will create a permanent display space! This gallery will help brighten the cafeteria and cause much excitement as kids enter for lunch and see their work displayed.
Building my student's confidence is one of my main goals.
Encouraging and supporting their creativity is a great way to develop confidence. Displaying their beautiful work will help each and every student appreciate artwork, and work towards the seeing their wall in our school gallery.
