My Students
I'm Ms. Acer. This is my 17th year teaching. I teach about 30 fourth graders in a high-poverty, Title I school in South Carolina. I have an amazing class this year, and they all love to learn new things. They cannot wait to grow their love and passion for learning.
My Project
I am trying to create a classroom environment that meets the diverse needs of my students and their families. As we move more and more into relying on technology, a lot of my students don't have access to the necessary tools at home.
For example, when we do research projects, they often can't print the things they need.
We've also moved to do the majority of our writing online. So many times they want to print them, but they don't have access to printers. This will allow them to print, scan, copy, etc. Sometimes I get a phone call or email from a parent asking me to print something or make a copy for them. This allows me the chance to have a quicker turnaround to keep them up-to-date on whatever they need.
On top of that, it does help me to save on previous instructional time should we need to make a quick copy. We also need a safe place to keep our printer and supplies.
