My Students

I teach special needs preschool students, many with significant developmental delays. All have communication needs. My students are energetic and playful, and they have a desire to learn. They need added support to learn and make progress on educational goals.

Preschool is a time to explore, learn new environments and learn to interact with peers.

It is also a time to explore different ways to express ideas and to communicate with others. We use many visual aids to assist with communication and learning.

We are an urban school consisting primarily of children from underprivileged families. We have great parent involvement and a supportive PTA, but many parents cannot afford to provide other financial support.

My Project

Many of my special needs preschool students need extra support to sit and attend to learning tasks. Edu-trays are designed to work with our classroom cube chairs to provide a perfect height working table for small children. I am also requesting a safe classroom floor mirror since it helps students to see themselves in a learning environment.

It is important that students see themselves as learners and that they get the support needed to sit and attend to tasks.

The mirror and cube chair tray tables will be a big support for my classroom. I have really wanted to get a safe toddler full floor mirror that I can move around the room that will help support play and social skills as well.
