This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students love coming to school because of the friendly staff we have on campus and the welcoming environment. We get new students all the time who do not have uniform clothes and can't afford to buy them. We also have students who have been coming to our campus who don't have access to a washer or dryer, so their clothes may not be clean. In addition, some of our younger babies have accidents and need a change of clothing. Finally, some scholars wear clothing that is either too big or too small. Unfortunately, we are in the second semester of the school year and have depleted the supply of clothing we started with.
If funded, this project would help us provide students with clean, new uniforms.
Students are not able to learn if their basic needs are not met. Having clean, fitting uniforms gives students the opportunity to be able to feel good about themselves. Our students can not learn if their clothes are dirty, too small, or if they feel singled out because they do not have appropriate uniforms like their peers.
I really hope this project gets funded because this is a huge need for our students.
