My students need Read-Along books with CD to help them develop reading fluency at the listening center. A rack will also be helpful to keep the books organized.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
How would you learn to read without listening to stories?
I have a group of 21 excited first graders in a Chicago Public School.
Many of my students are English Language Learners who are eager to expand their English vocabulary. My class is multicultural and six different cultures are represented in my class.
My Project
Through the use of the Read-Alongs, my students will build fluency in the English language. My students would also practice reading with expression as they read along together. During small group instruction, I can be sure that the students in the listening center are truly engaged while they enjoy some of their favorite stories.
The listening center will serve in building a stronger classroom community.
My English speaking students and English Language Learners can have common ground in sharing the stories that they love!
