My Students

I am a reading specialist at a rural school. I work with and teach students who test below grade level starting with kindergarten through fifth grade. I either come into a classroom or pull small groups out of the classroom to work on individualized literacy skills.

My students are amazing individuals with great potential, but do need extra help to gain knowledge and confidence to become successful in school.

They deserve to have books they have an interest in. I need some classic as well as new books to fill my shelves for them to fall in love with reading.

My Project

The new books added to my library will help my students fall in love with reading. I can use the books to provide more book titles to choose from. I am excited to be able to share and have them experience Caldecott Medal Award winning authors.

The new books will help my students expand their vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.

My students are below grade level readers and need these new titles to provide an adequate selection of books. My non-readering students will be exposed to above grade level text which will help them increase vocabulary and exposure to good literature.
