My Students
My students are bright, enthusiastic learners! They are eager to learn, to be heard, to feel inspired, and to take great leaps. Many of them are high achievers and seek to learn advanced content and to demonstrate their learning in creative, innovative ways. They are compassionate to all and embrace the diversity and multitude of the unique gifts displayed by their classmates. It is an honor to work with and to learn from these young people!
This year, I will move into my second year teaching 5th grade and I am excited!
After working hard to get a good grasp on 5th, I'll be striving to take my instruction to the next level. I will be pushing both my students and myself to reach new heights, to excel, to challenge, to wonder, to question, and to seek.
As I begin this new journey, I take with me my knowledge of all children. They want to learn. They want to be loved and accepted. They want to be engaged. They want to be successful. My job is to work within our community to make sure it happens. I look forward to making a difference in the lives of my new students.
My Project
Nobody wants remote learning. We are going to KILL it though! Let's kick off fifth grade with a novel study of Because of Mr. Terupt. Let's use a drawing tablet to more accurately teach and model math concepts! Let's tap into the resources of experienced, outstanding fifth-grade teachers for resources to supplement remote learning!
It is back-to-school time and I am asking again for help to make it a great school year for my kids!
This year will be DIFFERENT. We will work even harder to get our kids excited about learning without direct classroom tools.
I am seeking funding for novels, a drawing tablet, and Teachers Pay Teachers resources. I have researched a ton of great novel studies with relatable characters, complex plots, and historical ties to many of our fifth grade standards. Novel studies effectively engage my students and prompt thoughtful dialogue, commonality, and historical understanding. I also am seeking funding for a drawing tablet so my remote math instruction is less of a hot mess. :) It's difficult to write out complicated math problems on the screen of the computer. Finally, resources from Teachers Pay Teachers provide teacher-created, expert, proven resources for teaching all subjects. I'll be seeking resources to supplement our novel studies, build social-emotional awareness, promote racial understanding and equality, and enhance our primary subject blocks.
