Help me give my students a running-lap tracker to improve our PE program by allow students to: set fitness goals, improve breathing and running technique, create more accuracy in times per lap, and improve their overall cardiovascular health.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The Student Lap Tracker assigns each student with an ID card which contains their name, runner ID and a barcode for the school year. At the start of PE Class and/or Run Club, the ID cards will be handed out to the students who will carry them as they run. The teachers/parents will use the scanner app to start a timed race, general run, or time the FitnessGram assessment: one-mile run.
The Student Lap Tracker would allow our school to create a LMAAC Run Club and improve our existing PE classes by simplifying the process of capturing data on the field and automatically uploading it to the cloud where it is used to generate sophisticated reports tailored to our school.
With this data, students can self-assess, strategize with peers and coaches, and set goals to continuously improve their physical fitness and cardiovascular health.
The LMAAC Run Club would be a no-cost morning enrichment intended to promote exercise and a healthy lifestyle for our students organized by our PE Department and parent volunteers. The many benefits of the LMAAC Run Club would include: improved fitness and health, encourage student goal setting and self-assessment, and build more school spirit. We appreciate your help in supporting students' physical fitness and overall health.
