My Project

I teach a second and third grade multi-age, project based learning program. My students are special because they learn through their own interests. Our Living Wax Museum project is their favorite project! In this project students will be able to choose a historical figure to research and create many activities associated with them. They will write a written biography report, develop timelines, create paper mache masks, as well as canvas paintings. They also write speeches and memorize them as part of their presentation. They also dress up like the figure and make an artifact to have with them. For example, Amelia Earhart made a lifesize plane to stand in while she gave her speech. Students will present to the entire school as well as a home connection where we invite the families and town community to our Living Wax Museum. Using all these different modalities, we will reach all kinds of learners. Students will have the opportunity to learn about history and the important people that have shaped our world in a fun and engaging way! We will learn that we are who we are BECAUSE of the fabulous individuals in our past!
