This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is full of curiosity, questions, and budding scientists. To nurture that natural sense of wonder, I am hoping to bring science to life, literally, at each of my seven student tables. With your help, I would like to create a unique mini science center at every table using small plants, calming sand gardens, and gentle classroom pets.

Here's what each table will feature:

- A miniature Zen or sand garden for tactile, visual, and mindful moments.

- A low-light plant or succulent—something harder that thrives without sunlight, teaching students about plant biology and resilience.

- A gentle classroom pet, including a snail, hermit crab, gecko, or leopard lizard, and a Betta fish, to promote close observation of living creatures, care, and responsibility.

Each table's setup will provide hands-on science learning aligned with our life science curriculum: ecosystems, adaptations, habitats, and care of living things. These small environments will spark daily conversation, journaling, and questions that go far beyond what's in a textbook.

Many of my students do not have pets or plants at home. For them, this may be their first experience feeding a living creature, watching a plant grow, or watching an animal interact with its environment. With your support, we can offer that wonder to every student, every day.
