I am a teacher who teaches a classroom full of fourth AND fifth grade students. Due to the fact that LAUSD faced a budget cut for this school year, we were forced to have a split classroom on our campus for the first time in the past 15 years. Because of this, we are working on a limited budget.
Last year, the school bought ELMO's to use in our classrooms and provided a laptop for us to share and use if we needed to show PowerPoint’s or educational slideshows and also to use for planning purposes. But as I started this school year, the laptop I was provided with died on me. Since we are on a very tight budget, we cannot get it repaired by the district because it's a very old model. Therefore I don't have a computer to use for my planning and teaching purposes.
In the past years I have made PowerPoint’s that go with each language arts and math units to introduce the concept and make teaching a little more exciting but I cannot use them anymore because I don't have a laptop. For this proposal I am asking for a simple laptop to help me better teach my fourth and fifth grade classroom. It would be sad to see all the time and effort I invested in my planning and PowerPoint presentation go to waste. This is a small investment that goes a long way for my students.
Please help my class by contributing to our wish and making my split classroom a better learning experience. Thank you very much for reading my proposal!
