Help me give my students a resource that will help them navigate through the social concerns that stems from social media and real-time peer to peer issues.
As a middle school teacher of 27 years, I have seen the decline of interpersonal, social, and communication skills among my students.
It is my desire to equip my students with tools to help them pursue their purpose inspite of social struggles they experience.
Oftentimes, social struggles can lead to depression, social awkwardness, and lack of motivation, just to name a few. Hopefully, after reading this book and completing the activities, students will feel more confident about being authentically themselves and will focus on embracing who they are irregardless of peer and social media standards.
I'm excited about my students getting the opportunity to read this book.
During our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) time, we enjoy reading and discussing books that deal with bullying, self-esteem, and peer pressure. Thus far, those books are from the realistic fiction genre. I believe that this book will be even more impactful because it's someone's real-life story.
Once we receive the books, I plan to do a book study with my students twice a week during our SEL time. Morever, I will integrate individual, partner, and group projects that will encourage the students to be transparent and reflective of their own behaviors and ideas.
