Liven Up That Library !

My students need a library upgrade with new bookshelves and books to choose from for the upcoming school year.

My Students

When you walk into my classroom, you will see thirty-two fifth grade faces greeting you with a smile and probably a question, or two, or five about how the world works. My students are diligent workers and always very busy. They soak up every extra credit research project and take in all the knowledge I am able to give them in a day's time.

Many of my students participate in the after school program because they have parents who work long hours.

A full 70% of the student population at our school is eligible for free and reduced price lunch. It is not uncommon to arrive to school at 7:30 and see families and their children enjoying free/reduced breakfast in the cafeteria. I love that I work at a school where families are committed to ensuring their child has access to a healthy breakfast to jumpstart their full day of learning and are always volunteering their extra time or what supplies they can. My kids are hardworking, energetic, inquisitive, and highly deserving.

My Project

One of my goals as a teacher is to spark and create a lifelong love of reading amongst my students. What better way to do this then create a classroom library that is comfortable, clean, and cozy, and that provides endless options of book choices to met all my students' interests?!

Having an inviting library with tons of variety is crucial at this age when students are still figuring out what types of books and genres they are interested in.

Many of my students who deal with hardships at home really find an escape in my classroom library. I hope to always be able to offer them this cozy and safe place to escape inside a book. Having these bookshelves and book sets will aid greatly in this endeavor.

I know these book sets and shelves will be loved for years and years to come and enjoyed by my current and future students.
