My Project

Reading is FUNdamental in first grade! Part of developing strong readers is exposing students to a wide variety of books. By having this library book display, I will be able to rotate books out seasonally and by theme to introduce students to a plethora of books!

Our classroom library is great and continues to grow, but students tend to gravitate to the same books over and over.

A book display would allow students to read, interact with, and look at a wider range of books.

Books and stories serve as both windows and mirrors for students. They can be windows into other perspectives, worlds, and experiences. They can also reflect our own lived experiences. By providing a wide variety of book choices, students are provided with the opportunity to develop community, increase empathy, and broaden their understanding of the world.

A library display would provide my students with the opportunity to engage with more diverse books that allow them to deepen their introspection and reading skills.
