In this small, rural town our mission is "High Tech, High Expectations: Committed to Excellence for All Students!" When you serve students in a high need, high poverty area with over ninety percent students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, every advantage has the potential to be life-changing. No matter what challenges our students may face in life, they come to school ready to learn and eager to explore.
If there is one lesson that I have learned, it is not to place my own limitations on my students.
I know that my students are always ready to take their learning to the next level. They are independent thinkers who are fearless when it comes to new experiences. They will try anything and that is what will allow them to be successful whether it is in college, a chosen profession, or life in general.
My Project
I am requesting funds to attend a conference on innovative techniques that are cutting edge and based on current research. This is a unique opportunity to bond with educators around the world. The setting for this professional development will provide a relaxing and fun environment for learning.
I am looking forward to experiencing a new culture and their educational setting as well.
What a joy it will be to provide resources to students in the Bahamas. In addition, I will be able to share the ideas that I learn with my colleagues. With a focus on literacy and teaching our diverse learners, we are always searching for best practice strategies to implement in the classroom.
