Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I can now be everywhere at once. I teach Biology, Forensics, and Anatomy & Physiology to students ranging from 10th - 12th grade. I teach to a wide range of ability levels I have a large number of students with special needs whether it be ESL or Special Education.
When doing lab activities, especially dissections it is impossible for me to go to every group in the time allotted and help identify structures or just show them how to do a procedure. Typically each lab group is calling me over at the same time for help and I'm going from group to group explaining the same thing over and over.
The Document Camera will let me do a dissection or activity step be step in front of the room and have the students view it on the projector as they follow along. The camera is portable and can be adjusted to look into the body cavities of specimens and point out specific tissues and organs, and can be used to demonstrate many procedures to the class that are normally difficult for them to see from their seats.
You will make it possible for me to give the students the instructional time they deserve when trying to complete a lab that requires much modeling and direction. It will be possible to do the projects as a larger group answering questions together instead of individually.
