Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Liv Like a Unicorn is an organization that sends care packages to children suffering from cancer. This year, we have been making postcards to send well wishes and messages of hope to these special children.
Most recently, to elevate our message of hope and caring, we started making bracelets and keychains to include in the care packages!
My students have been hard at work using resin, wood, and our beads to make these tokens of kindness to send with the postcards. The organization has been super excited at what we have been sending. We want to now send buttons and magnets as students recognize not all children can wear jewelry, some are very young!
Sending gifts to pediatric cancer patients is one of the kindest projects I think we have done this year! It started with a few students coloring postcards and now we have most of the students I see helping in some way! I plan on supporting this organization and its message of kindness for years to come!
