Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am teaching at MPS (Milwaukee Public Schools). I will be taking over the K4 classroom at an elementary school. At my school the percentage neurodivergent students or students with learning differences has increased, especially students being diagnosed earlier. Students with all capabilities, deserve a learning environment where they can do their best. Giving them access to flex seating, sensory tools, and art tools will help this environment become more welcoming. I am excited to give my little learners different learning opportunities that would prepare them for success in kindergarten! Preschool is such an important time in a family's life. It can be scary for families and the students. I would like to fill my room with opportunities for these littles to explore and engage in learning on many different modes like through art, sensory play, accommodation furniture, social emotional work, and sensory tools. Many students are multi-language learners and giving students opportunities to retell stories through visuals is important. These resources will help my writing and reading stations as well. My students need a sand and water table, flexible seating, easel, magnetic tiles, and sensory toys.
