Little Writers Need Tools for Their Big Ideas!

My students need the right tools to develop their fine motor skills and build confidence to help foster a love for writing. We need magic boards, privacy partitions, pencil grips, magnetic words, pencils, and clipboards.

My Students

Each morning, I begin the day welcoming 25 bright, smiling, and eager students into my kindergarten class. They come from a variety of backgrounds, ethnicities, and socioeconomic statuses, coming together to create a diverse classroom community where we learn something new from each other each day!

My students are kind, creative, and eager to learn.

They love to practice the things they're good at, but even more so love a challenge! Their eyes light up when presented with one, their attention focused and their brains fully engaged. I try to foster a can-do, try-try-again attitude when it comes to "the tricky stuff."

My Project

My Kindergarten students come to me at all different levels. Some come to me writing their name and printing letters, some are just building on that alphabetical knowledge, and others are still putting together that all these squiggles mean something! My students come from various backgrounds, many have had no prior schooling and many do not speak English as their first language.

Writing is so important; it is a craft students learn in the youngest grade and utilize throughout the rest of their educational careers and lives.

My students need a variety of materials to help them achieve success in writing no matter what level they are.

The books will be perfect for a read-aloud and to help students better understand what writing is and to get excited about it. The Wikki Stix, pencil grips, tracing boards and fine motor tools will help students build those muscles in their hands to make writing less laborious and build their confidence. The larger pencils, privacy partitions (which will be used for "writing offices") and magic boards and magnetic sentence builders will help students reinforce those writing skills in a fun and engaging way. The clipboards will help make this possible for them anywhere in the classroom, around the school, or even outside!

Your donation will be helping students at a pivotal point in their educational careers: the very beginning! Kindergarten should be a fun and exciting place for students to take risks, build confidence, and foster a love of literacy skills they will utilize throughout their educational careers - and their lives!
