This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our preschool special education classroom, students are experiencing the education system for the first time. When they come to my classroom, they may not have had the opportunities to learn language or be exposed to a variety of language outputs.

Even though we may still be working on our sounds and articulation, we all have something say.

With this iPad, I will be able to download alternatives to communication apps that allow my students to touch pictures to tell us their wants and needs. I am hopeful that through modelling, feedback and reinforcement, this tool will bring first words for many of our families. Whether it is through pictures, sounds or technology, all of our voices deserve to be heard.
