This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, active, loving, full of questions and inspiring! They absolutely enjoy fun, hands-on activities. They are active learners that need movement throughout the day in order to allow them to explore and interact with one another. Early Childhood Education is the focus of our school. We offer busing services which bring students from all over the city with different backgrounds and challenges, 75% of my students come from low income families. Although my students are exposed to different learning strategies and are constantly on the go while learning, they need new hands on activities every week that allow them to focus and emerge as readers. By having this extra support we will be able to provide them with opportunities to meet their needs. These preschoolers are really an amazing group that fill my day with their smiles, questions and original ideas.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students - Little Whales - will be used for visual arts and literacy. I am already planning the learning activities that will be completed with the computer speakers. The students will be able to listen to audio books and keep themselves engaged in the reading process. The art materials like sponges, stamps, construction paper holder, will be used to organize the art center and develop more hands-on art activities. It is fun to add color to the different projects, this will be possible by using the rainbow blocks which will also foster their creativity. The pencil grips go fast because of the sensory issues that some students have. Sometimes they go through 4 pencil grips per year.

By complementing Literacy with Art activities, we are allowing the students to feel accomplished.

Their sense of building and owning their knowledge is becoming stronger.
