My students are new to school and are always beaming with curiosity. How magical would it be to put these little learners in charge of their independent reading time by giving them hot dots self-correcting pens and activity cards!
My students are curious and busy learners.
They attend a Title One school that is in the heart of the city. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and homes. Most of them live below the poverty line. For many of them, school is the safe place where they can explore and learn using materials they do not have access to at home. Despite the hardships they may face at home, they are smart and determined little workers!
My Project
My students will use 8 hot dots pens and the variety of activity cards to practice reading and math skills independently. As a teacher it is challenging to find ways for students to engage in independent learning while I teach small differentiated reading or math groups.
I want to avoid busy work and giving my students worksheets. Using hot dots pens and activity cards is one way to achieve this. Students solve the activities (including math equations or word reading) and touch the hot dots pen to the correct answer. The pen self-checks and will let the students know if their have answered the activity card correctly. My students will be actively engaged in learning while I meet individual needs during small group time.
My project will give my students access to a variety of materials at their learning level.
I have selected materials from preschool level up to first grade. The hot dots activity cards span the learning levels found in my kindergarten classroom. My students will be engaged and "playing" while they are learning. They will be able to independently learn letters, count objects, recognize words, and so much more. I hope you can help me give my students these fun hot dots activity cards and pens.
