My Students

I teach the littlest of scholars who come to school for the very first time. My classroom is in an urban, high poverty area where 100% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

My students are energetic, passionate, kind, and come to school eager to learn in spite of the many disadvantages they are dealt early in life.

In order to prepare my little scholars for kindergarten, I must maximize their learning during the school day. It's my goal to provide a safe, comfortable classroom, full of hands-on materials and creative avenues that allow them to reach their fullest potential!

My Project

In our preschool classroom, we love working in large groups. However, Large group instruction can be challenging at times because students complain about their view being obstructed by other students. The Lumens document camera would benefit my Little Scholars’ because we would be able to project the work for all students to see as I model instructions. Learning activities from handwriting practice, counting manipulatives, examining a fossil and reading a book. The benefits of this technology are immeasurable. Along with being able to magnify the work as I model it, the students will also be able to interact with the objects through the smart board screen. I could share videos and other sources of media allowing me to spend less time in the explanation process and more time focused on their reactions and interactions with each other.

This camera will increase student engagement by allowing students to collaborate, propose and solve problems, and project their own ideas.
