My Students

My school is one of the largest in the city with children from all over the world. We have over 30 languages represented and the children who come through my doors are hungry for musical learning. No matter how long they have been in this country they are ready to dive right in and make some music!

Music is a universal language and with such a large diverse student body, the arts are more important than ever.

Our fourth and fifth graders look forward to our club time, a period at the end of week where students are allowed to pick their interests and join a club. We have various clubs ranging from trumpet, chess, weather and of course, the club I run, Rock Band.

My Project

The guitars I am requesting will go to immediate use! Fourth and fifth grade classes can sometime have over thirty students. When we are playing the guitars I simply do not have enough to go around. When students are just watching others play, I quickly lose their interest. I could have more students playing the guitars and hopefully inspire even more life long musical learners.

Students gain confidence through accomplishments.

If the students are not able to practice on the guitars they cannot move forward. More guitars mean more hands on learning for each child as they enter the music room!
