My students need 10 sets of accessible leveled texts! My class library belongs to my current school and I need to build a new one for next year's learners!
Students need books, actual books that they can read independently. My current classroom library is made of books on loan from my school and paper books from the Internet. As I prepare to move to a new school, I need to build my own library!
I haven't met my new learners yet, but I'm super excited to be working with first graders again this year.
First grade is such an exciting year as kids start from barely reading words to reading fluent sentences and engaging stories! I'll be working yet again in a Title I school that offers programs and trainings to help bring the students up to grade level.
My Project
I've selected leveled classroom texts from Kindergarten to early Second grade to cover the span of reading levels I'll encounter over the course of the year. Many popular books at this level are designed for Read Alouds/Alongs and not texts that students can read independently.
Students need books!
Real books that will help hook them onto reading and get them excited about stories. My readers will need to build their schema and expand their knowledge of the world around them.
