Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 18 students who are all non-English speaking students and are all mostly from low-income families. Two of my students are special needs students. They all come from homes where the parents, unfortunately, do not speak English, and they do not have a role model in order to learn the English language from. My students are energetic little kids who love to learn and are very excited about being in school. However, since my students are all non-English speaking students, they need a lot of visuals and hands-on activities in order to learn and make the learning process more meaningful. Also, due to the lack of knowledge from the part of the parents on how to help their children, I feel that my students need a double dosage of educational fun activities in school in order to be up to par with their counterparts and succeed in school.
My Project
I am requesting alphabet sound teaching tubs from Lakeshore in English and Spanish. These alphabet teaching tubs will help support the learning for my group of prek students. All of my 18 prek students are English Language learners, and the Lakeshore alphabet sounds teaching tubs will bring each letter of the alphabet to life for my children. The 3D objects in each tub will help my students learn the letter and relate the letter to different objects. By giving the children hands-on materials to relate to each letter will help them identify letters, sort objects, explore letter sounds, and play games that will help them learn and build their vocabulary skills and even writing skills. I feel that incorporating the Spanish letter tubs will help them relate to their home language and help them make the learning process more meaningful.
This project will impact my prek students in so many ways!!
Please, please, please help!! The students will be able to learn the alphabet and their letters sounds in so many different ways. They will be able to use hands-on materials to learn their alphabet in a new and exciting way!
