This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a fun-loving, eager group of 4 and 5 year olds. They are fully remote, and this is their first experience with school. Most of my students are English Language Learners where English is not spoken in the home. My school is a Title I school.
My Project
I have 24 kindergarteners who are learning to read in a virtual setting. Most of my students are learning English as well. They do not have access to books at home, in any language. Children need to touch books, turn pages and feel the paper they are made of! I would love to be able to give them little readers, 25 books each, to encourage an early love of books and reading. The variety of reading level in this assortment will allow the children to have books to read now and into the close future!
