Little Mos Like Mo Willems

Help me give my students a collection of Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems and other titles and characters. We only have a handful of his titles. My student would like to have more.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have been calling my students "Little Ones," but after reading a handful of Mo Willems' books that I have borrowed. Now they have requested to be called "Little Mos." They grab Mo Willems books and practice in partnerships of two or three the voice that Willems gives to their characters. One "trouble maker" gets ready for read aloud time and shares out loud, "Mo Willems is my favorite author."

I now they, my students, are going to also use Willems as their mentor author in their writing by using dialogue bubbles.

The collection of books by Willems and other titles that I am requesting will continue to inspire the desire of reading and the inspiration and creativity captured in their imaginations.

To be continue... they will probably change what they want to be called as soon as we discover another "fun" author, and just like that they are hooked.
