Little Minds Learning Through Technology (Part 1)

My Students

My classroom is full of 16 pre-kindergarten students who come from various backgrounds. Most of them are attending school for the first time, so it is important that they build positive associations with learning and school in my classroom. I work hard to plan activities that are educational and also appeal to their individual interests.

Each day, the children in my classroom are given opportunities to build essential skills that will help them succeed in kindergarten and beyond.

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is a state-funded free pre-k program for 4-year-old children. Many students who attend GSRP would not have the opportunity to attend pre-k if it wasn’t for this amazing program. Children attending GSRP are given breakfast and lunch each day, attend classrooms with a 1:8 adult-to-child ratio, and are taught skills that are essential to future academic success.

My Project

These tablets will make a difference to my pre-k classroom as they will give an extra fun boost of learning since we are in the new age of technology. With the new tablets, we will utilize programs like ABC Mouse which has been proven to help with education. We will also use these new tablets with our online learning and communication app, SeeSaw, where students will be able to complete teacher created activities and share their classroom learning with their families.

These tablets will impact my students’ daily school lives for the better and enhance their learning capabilities.

With the new tablets, the children will love learning through play. Tablets give teachers the ability to adapt materials to meet students' needs (such as visual and audio features). Tablets are an effective means to engage students and make lessons more inactive. The tablets cases will allow the tablets to stay safe while in the hands of children. The matching headphones help the children to be independent in setting up the tablets with their headphones to use.
