This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 18 kindergarten students at an all kindergarten school. Seventy percent of my classroom receives free or reduced lunch. Most of them come from very low income families with little or no support from home. This is my very first classroom and I want to make it great!
Each day my students participate in a 90 minute literacy block. During this time we are working hard to learn our letters, the sounds they make, and how they work together to build words. It is difficult to keep their interest with very few literacy games on hand.
The items I have requested will help my students to learn phonemic awareness, phonics, and reading skills they need to build a great foundation for their future. They can use the stamps to build their names and spell many words that we use every day. All of the materials will definitely benefit all of my students now and for years to come.
By donating to the project you will make it possible for my students to see that learning can be fun! They will be participating in reading activities and learning as they go. Thank you so much for considering my proposal and for investing in the lives of children.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
