Little Learners Need Leveled Library

My students need a set of non-fiction leveled readers to aid in the teaching of Social Studies concepts.

My Students

Help us learn to read! Our school is a small community school which was opened in 1949. You can imagine how books and other materials have changed over that amount of time!

We have 21 very energetic and excited students in our class!

They love books and find books very entertaining even in the technology-driven world we live in. I teach at a neighborhood school that receives basic funding. It is important that I keep my leveled libraries up to date so that the concepts also change with the times. It is also important that my students read non-fiction as well as fictional books.

My Project

No matter how technologically advanced our world gets, nothing takes the place a great book! My students are captivated by the books I read to them and by the books they read. Currently, our classroom library consists of books that I have purchased and books that go along with our reading series. I also have leveled readers that from a website, but they are in black and white print. Some of my students are so turned onto reading now that they are almost through with all of the books from our reading series and are going to need some more books to supplement the library that I currently have. None of my leveled readers are non-fiction titles.

These leveled readers are so important to aid in the teaching of Social Studies standards from our state.

The pictures are very vivid and current as opposed to our other readers which are out of date and fictional. Please help my students continue to grow into young adults who truly have a passion for reading both fiction and non-fiction titles.
