This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very special to me because they show up every day eager to learn. Most are from low income housing and some are learning to speak English. The students are so wonderful and sweet and hardworking and I want them to have them best experience possible while they are in my class.
My students are hungry.
It is a terrible truth that exists in my classroom. I have been providing snacks since the beginning of the year. I have asked parents to help and donate snacks for our snack time and nothing has been provided. So, I am asking for food for my hungry students who are unfortunately focused on their hunger and not learning.
My Project
I chose healthy snacks for my students who aren't able to bring snacks to school. When I ask them about bringing in a snack, they actually say they are poor and can't afford food. I have been providing snacks for them for 7 weeks and I just thought I could reach out and get some help from the community. My students can't concentrate on math and learning new concepts when they are just hungry. This is a sad but real problem for the students in my class and at our school. These snacks will be valued by my students daily.
